Project Canaan 10th Anniversary & Camp Canaan Trip      July 13th through July 23rd, 2019

In July 2019 we will be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Project Canaan, and you are invited to join us on a very special trip to eSwatini to celebrate 10 years of HOPE!

The team will depart the US/Canada on Saturday, July 13th and leave eSwatini on Monday, July 22nd, 2019.

This trip will be packed full with time spent on Project Canaan (including Camp Canaan), homestead visits, time with the children at our partner churches and a time of real celebration on HOPE mountain!

We will have a formal celebration of the 10 years on the afternoon of Thursday, July 18th, which will include Swazi dignitaries from government, hospitals, police and local partners.  We will spend two days at our partner churches doing “well child check-ups” as well as delivering a wonderful celebratory meal for the children, complete with a 10th anniversary cake!

Sunday will be the highlight of the week featuring “Music on the Mountain!”  We will take our volunteers, Emseni children and staff to the top of HOPE mountain for a music concert complete with worship teams from the US and eSwatini.  The communities from all around Project Canaan will be invited to attend and we will provide a hot meal (cooked by our local church partners) to everyone who comes to worship with us.

We have a limited number of beds/rooms reserved at the Nkonyeni Golf Estate only 5KM from Project Canaan. Rooms will be booked on a first-come-first serve basis and once those spaces are full, we will book rooms at the Lugogo Sun in Ezulweni (a 50-minute drive).  To reserve your space today, please register with a deposit of $250 today at this link.

We hope that you will join us in Celebrating HOPE in 2019!

The trip cost will include the ground costs of $2,400 PLUS the airline ticket cost if you are booking your ticket through Heart for Africa. Total trip cost includes round trip air from Toronto/Vancouver to Atlanta to Johannesburg.   Heart for Africa can arrange a feeder flight into Toronto for an additional cost. To make arrangements for flights into Toronto please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Sarah Windham at sarah@heartforafrica.org after registering for the trip.

If making your travel arrangements through Heart for Africa, you will depart North America on July 13th and arrive in Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 14th. At the conclusion of the trip, you will depart South Africa on July 22nd and arrive back home on July 23rd.

*Please note: The cost with airfare is based on our blocked seating rate with the airlines. Volunteers must register with air by April 8th, 2019 in order to get the blocked seating rate. For registrations after this date, we will book individual tickets at the regular published fare at the time. If we do not have more than ten people sing up with airfare by April 8th, 2019, we cannot keep our block and we will need book individual tickets. The total trip cost may change according to airline rates at the time.

Self Bookers (No airfare through Heart for Africa)

If you are self-booking your own airfare, you will need to coordinate your arrival and departure in South Africa with Heart for Africa in order to join the rest of the team. Please contact Sarah Windham at sarah@heartforafrica.org with your travel arrangements.

Please note that Canada Revenue Agency does not permit issuance of official tax receipts for payments made toward service trips.

The cost of the trips included lodging, meals, supplies, ground transportation, administrative fees and airfare (if you have elected for Heart for Africa to arrange the air portion of your trip). Due to cost and exchange rate adjustments, any remaining funds will go toward the general support of the mission.
