African ChildHeart for Africa (Canada) is a registered Canadian Charity [85916 3560 RR0001]. Working alongside churches and children's homes in Swaziland, we are providing care and hope for a future for children in this small African nation. Through short term service trips, child sponsorship, and large fund raising programs, we are working to deliver quality care, shelter, food, water, clothing, health care, and education to the orphaned and vulnerable children of Swaziland.

In the past five years, have had had over 5,000 people travel to Africa as part of our program.  These volunteers, people just like you, have taken 11 days to go to Swaziland and see for themselves the challenges of this country have made a commitment to making a change in the lives of those they have encountered.  We believe that while we may not be able to save every life in Africa, that one person at a time, the people of the United States and Canada can have a serious impact on the lives of thousands in Swaziland.

Heart for Africa is developing a place of hope in Swaziland called Project Canaan.  Project Canaan is a 2,500 acre large-scale land development project being designed by business people to come alongside Africans and bring expertise, resources and heart together to find a holistic solution to a complex set of issues. It will provide training and employment, grow large amounts of food to stimulate the local economy and allow for export while supporting orphans and vulnerable children on the property and across the nation. There are two sides to this development project, the first is the farm side and the second is the children side.

The Project Canaan Farm (PCF) will have multiple approaches to agriculture utilizing both outdoor and greenhouse crop production, fish farming, dairy farming, the raising of chickens and goats, coffee, and the production of fruit wherever possible on the land. The proceeds from farming will be used to help Project Canaan be a sustainable community, as well as help support existing children’s homes that Heart for Africa has partnered with.

The Project Canaan Children (PCC) program will provide a safe haven for orphans and vulnerable children. Children’s homes and schools will be developed and built to provide for the ever-growing number of orphans being left in the wake of the AIDS pandemic. This will provide them a chance to live and grow as well as be educated to help break the cycle of ignorance and poverty in their generation.

Heart for Africa Rural Church Partnerships have been established over the past two years to assist Christian Pastors in 28 rural churches to provide ongoing care for the orphans and vulnerable children in their immediate community.  Our volunteer teams serve alongside these churches to plant vegetable seedlings, feed local children in need, visit the sick, distribute shoes to all children between the ages of 2-18 and encourage those who are working to care for the orphans and vulnerable children in the most rural areas of the Kingdom of Swaziland.  Bi-weekly follow up visits deliver maize, beans and other food to help with ongoing feeding programs established by the churches.
