|Project Canaan Poultry House
Heart for Africa's Project Canaan has expanded with the addition of a new egg farm thanks to the support and generosity of Egg Farmers of Canada and the international egg community.
Our journey saw a barren patch of land transformed into two layer barns filled with 5,000 hens. The farm now offers fresh eggs to thousands of people in the community and is providing a locally produced protein that's essential for human growth and development.
Give the gift of the humble egg
Through the generous investment of our egg farmer
friends, we received our first flock of 2,500 hens in January 2016 along
with 2,500 more in July. That first flock is ready to "harvest"
for meat for our children, but we need to replace them quickly with 2,500 new pullets that will lay nearly 700,000 eggs over the next year,
providing fresh protein for thousands of hungry children that depend on
us for food provided through our rural church partnerships.
Your generous gift of $25 or more is needed to help replenish this flock 2,500 chickens. Each $25 donation will purchase a hen for Heart for
Africa’s poultry barn. One hen will provide more than 275 fresh and
nutritious eggs for our community. These eggs provide a high-quality
source of protein for our children and supplements our feeding program
that delivers 74,000 hand-packed meals every month to our community.
